EXPOSITION TEXT

 

 

 

 >  Definition 

a series of sentences that summarize and parse arguments about an idea from the author

exposition text is usually also associated with analytical text 

>  The type of the exposition text

    - Analytical Exposition

         This type of text begins with an explanation of the author's opinion on the theme being discussed. Then, arguments followed afterwards to support that opinion. Finally, the author closes by affirming the opinion at the beginning. You can also rewrite the opinion.

    -  Hortatory Exposition

         For this one, the text begins with an explanation of the theme or problem being discussed. Then, the evidence and arguments supporting the topic are written. And, this argument is also made so that you as a reader, know or even better agree with the opinion of the author. At the end, the author closes with a solution, suggestion or recommendation about the problem written at the beginning.

When you look at the two types, you can find the striking differences. In analytical exposition, your ideas and views are displayed prominently at the beginning. Followed by a supporting opinion to make the reader understand.

While hortatory exposition , you reverse the process. Problems at the beginning, continued with argumentation, and all of that was designed to convey your opinion. You can choose both according to your needs and comfort in writing.

> Language Features or Linguistic Elements

1.  Using the simple present tense
2.     Many use conjunctions (conjunctions) such as because of, so, therefore, the reason, and others.
3.     Contains arguments.
4.     Many use words that contain cause and effect
5.     Using vocabulary that can evoke the reader's emotions such as: amused, concern, innocent, monster, unreasonable etc.
   

>  Generic Structure

Thesis: in the hortatory exposition this section will contain the issue or problem to be raised while in the analytical exposition this section will contain the position, opinion or attitude of the author.

Argument: contains opinions / arguments that the author began to present. Both the hortatory exposition and the analytical exposition have the same explanation in this section.

Reiteration: reiteration is a conclusion. The hortatory exposition will contain recommendations or suggestions from the author on the problem that is the theme of the writing, while in the analytical exposition, this section will contain a re-statement from the author

>  Purposes:

       1.      To persuade the readers that idea is important matter. 

       2.      To persuade the readers or listeners that there is something that, certainly, needs to

 

 >  Conclusion

     That's a little discussion about text exposition. Hopefully you can understand the text about how to

write this well after reading the explanation above. If you want to write an article, paper, thesis or something like that, understanding the position text will be very helpful. You can convey your ideas about a certain topic to readers well.

I personally think that English is the world’s most important language. why  I say that? Firstly, English is an international language. It is spoken by many people all around the world, either as a first or second language. Secondly, English is also the key which opens doors to scientific and technical knowledge, which is needed for the economic and political development of many countries in the world. Thirdly, English is a top requirement of those seeking jobs. Applicants who master either active or passive English are more favorable than those who for not. From the fact above, it is obvious that everybody needs to learn English to greet the global era.
